In the hard drive. They are in the Templates folder within the Guild Wars folder.

so if people didn't know this and they uninstall and reinstall gw, they would lose all their templates without knowing it?

Ha hey up Tsunami! I think it would stay unless you do a very good uninstall as most games now when you uninstall them leave a file of saved games knocking about somewhere. I guess they probably do the same thing

guild wars should make a note to people that templates can be lost if not backed up--since they're not saved to the account like most other things. im sure some people have invested lots of time setting up various templates for their characters and it would be sad to lose all that work inadvertently.

Screenshots can be lost, if you reformat. If people aren't smart enough to save their GW folder (the templates are in it), they deserve to lose it.

So, then someone who assumes that templates are saved to the account isn't smart enough to keep them? Considering everything else is saved to the account, other than screenshots, I wouldn't be surprised if many people weren't aware that they were saved to the drive. Does this make those people stupid? No, just unaware.

Skill Templates - In Nightfall, you will be able to save and load skill and attribute builds to disk, enabling you to quickly switch strategies and outfit your Heroes.

* To save a Skill Template, click the disk icon inside the Skills and Attributes panel, then click “Save to Template.” The template will be saved to a small file in the Templates/Skills folder below the Guild Wars installation directory. You can copy this file to other computers, share it with your friends, or post it on the Internet.

And, well, you know what they say about assuming.

There you can find a handy tool to save Templates to your computer and your account. Foolproof.

You dont need it, use windows explorer to copy/paste like with any file. Where it is, is already mentioned in the thread.
